For Candidates With or Without Flight Experience

We offer tailored support for candidates aspiring to enter the airliner cockpit. Our selection preparation courses cover all areas (except for medical tests) and can be individually expanded or adjusted as needed.


Airliner Assessment Preparation Course

B777 Flight Simulator – 1 Session

Training Includes:

  • Briefing (Approx. 45–60 min): Discussion and review of the check program, familiarization with B777-specific handling and characteristics, Q&A.
  • Practical Session in the B777 Flight Simulator (120 min):
    • Checklists, takeoff and approach profiles, procedures.
    • Manual handling with and without Flight Director (F/D), Autopilot (A/P), and Autothrottle (A/T).
    • Workload management, priority setting, situational awareness, communication, and good airmanship.
    • ILS, non-precision approaches, pattern work, circling, go-arounds.

Total Duration: 3 hours
Cost: CHF 490.– (includes beverages)


Introduction to Aviation

B777 Flight Simulator – 90 Minutes

Experience a real airline pilot’s workday with a Line-Oriented Flight from LSZH to LSGG, following all checklists and procedures. This session provides valuable insight into the job of an airliner pilot.

  • Extended Briefing (30–60 min) + 90-minute B777 Flight Simulator Session
  • Cost: CHF 349.–
  • The extended briefing covers preparation options, selection processes, and answers any questions about a pilot career.

Selection Process: Stages 1–6

  • Psychomotor Skills Tests: MIC, OWT, VFF, PPT, ROT, VMC, SVT, SKT
  • Medical Tests 1 & 2, Personality Questionnaire
  • Apparatus Test
  • Group Assessment
  • Pilot Instrument Trainer
  • Interview

Apparatus Test Training

Instrument Coordination Test

  • Various exercises using the apparatus test trainer (SkyTest, incl. personal license).
  • Psychomotor skills test covering MIC, OWT, VFF, PPT, ROT, VMC, SVT, SKT, and vigilance test.
  • Apparatus Test: Part 1 (ICA) & Part 2 (DCA – Instrument Coordination Test).

Duration & Cost: 3–5 double lessons, CHF 85.– per hour.

Group Assessment Program

Program Includes:

  • Welcome and introduction by the course leader.
  • Group assessment exercise.
  • Task presentation by a selected delegate.
  • Break.
  • Group assessment analysis by coaches (two captains, trained instructors, some with psychological training).
  • One-on-one debriefing and discussion with crew members.

Duration & Cost:

  • 60-minute group assessment + 30-minute private debriefing per candidate.
    • 1 Candidate: CHF 450.–
    • 2 Candidates: CHF 800.– (CHF 400 per person)
    • 3 Candidates: CHF 1050.– (CHF 350 per person)
  • If fewer than 3 candidates register, Fly & Race will arrange additional participants.
  • Includes all course materials and debriefing sheets.

Interview Training

Ideally combined with the group assessment, candidates face a panel of experienced captains answering expected interview questions. This training enhances real-life interview experience and self-assessment skills. A detailed debriefing follows with a full analysis.

Duration: Approx. 2.5–3 hours
Cost: CHF 450.– (Two captains with additional qualifications).


VTR B777 Familiarization & Airliner Selection Preparation Course

8 Sessions

Theoretical Topics:

  • General introduction and aircraft familiarization.
  • Standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communication principles: Calls, closed-loop principle, SPORDEC.
  • Emergency handling.
  • Flight and fuel planning, alternate selection.
  • Meteorology and severe weather conditions.
  • Electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • High-speed aerodynamics.
  • Autopilot system and flight director programming.

Practical B777 Flight Simulator Training:

  • Cockpit familiarization and procedure training.
  • Checklist execution and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Manual and autopilot-assisted flying.
  • FMS programming and route management.
  • Flights to various destinations and emergency scenario practice.
  • Precision and non-precision approaches, circling maneuvers.

Additional Offerings: Interview Training & Group Assessment for Airliner Assessment.

Course Start: April 4th
Duration: 8 Sessions (Each session: 90 min theory + 90 min practical)
Cost: CHF 2400.– (Full payment required in advance).

Each selection stage is important—some cannot be repeated (e.g., Stage 1 is non-repeatable, while the group exercise can be retaken after a 2-year wait). It is crucial to assess your starting point so we can create a tailored training plan to meet your needs.
